A team of Centerplate’s talented chefs showcased the company’s culinary expertise at the James Beard House on Friday, January 29th. The Foundation, named in honor of James Beard, the father of American-style gourmet cooking, annually hosts the James Beard Awards – often described as the ‘Oscars of Food’. The foundation also celebrates extraordinary chefs by inviting them to host exclusive dinners in the house – as was the case with Centerplate.

Five of Centerplate’s chefs, representing premiere cities and their convention centers from across North America, prepared innovative dishes that truly celebrated the best in contemporary American cuisine. The featured chefs were Philippe Chin of the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, David Skorka of the Dallas Convention Center, Jonathan Barnett of the Miami Beach Convention Center, Robert Campbell of Toronto’s Direct Energy Centre, and Jeff Leidy of the San Diego Convention Center.  Chef Chin was already a familiar name to the Beard House, having been a nominee for the James Beard Foundation’s Best Chef in the Mid Atlantic Award.
