We are seeking experienced Accountant for the Entertainment Division in Indianapolis Indiana.
The successful candidate will run an efficient, effective, and profitable beverage operation under the leadership and direction of the VP and Area Controller as well as the Regional Vice President. The candidate will be responsible for the development, implementation and enforcement of high standards of quality and performance in all phases of the operation. This position is responsible for all accounting performed at the unit level, and support to multiple units/GMs, including general ledger entries, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and cash handling. The position is also responsible for reporting violations of company policies, practices or federal and state laws.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lend financial and/or accounting support to General Manager.
- Ensure that accounting departments conform to generally accepted accounting principles, balance sheet accounts are reconciled monthly, and accounting follows contract terms and operating statements and balance sheets are properly stated.
- Lend financial perspective to business issues, analyze financial data for potential profit
- improvement, instruct operators to better understand and use financial statements, maintain knowledge of operation and corporate accounting systems.
- Review weekly operating reports and monthly forecasts generated by the units and ensure that the reports are accurately prepared.
- Ensure that Company policies and procedures are being followed, maintain controls in cash areas, respond to and implement recommendations made by Internal Audit.
- Recognize and improve control deficiencies.
- Ensure that the unit is in compliance with the GAAP reporting, paying close attention to
- Section 404.
- Keep the unit focused on optimizing working capital by managing inventory and receivable balances and imprest funds.
- Maintain and work with managers to implement necessary controls and procedures.
- Reconcile preliminary P&L updates and accounts receivable.
- Support operations manager in forecasting sales and expenses.
- Responsible for financial reporting of unit to include preparation and timely submission of weekly and monthly financial reports.
- Manage and oversee event sales auditing and reporting, accounts payable, accounts
- receivable, vault and cash handling functions and personnel and payroll functions.
- Ensure financial controls (i.e. inventory procedures, cash handling procedures, payroll time and attendance procedures) are in place within the operation based on knowledge of corporate policies and procedures.
- Supervise and direct subordinates in accomplishing their tasks within the accounting
- department.
- Assist during new account openings and assist in the annual budget process as necessary.
- Act as the liaison with corporate and regional offices in accounting and forecasting.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable health and safety regulations.
- Perform other related duties, tasks and responsibilities as required from time to time.
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance or equivalent work experience.
- Proven ability to work with all levels of management.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Initiative in identifying and resolving problems timely and effectively.
- Must be flexible in order to work on multiple assignments.
- Excellent knowledge of EXCEL/ACCESS and Microsoft Office Suite software, A/P, A/R,
- Payroll, G/L and cash handling.
- Extensive experience with food operation, banquet and catering procedures and/or
- concession operations, bar procedures, sanitation requirements, alcohol compliance and
- regulatory issues affecting food service.
- Ability to promote and participate in team environment concepts.
- Ability to understand written and oral direction and to communicate same with others.
- 5 years experience in a lead accounting/finance role.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Mobility is needed to attend various meetings and events. Hours may be extended or irregular to include nights, weekends and holidays. Travel is required.
